Dedicated to World Peace

The Heart of the Longchen Nyingthig Tradition

Rigdzin Düpa (Gathering of Awareness Holders / Vidyādharas) is one of the principal Guru practices of the renowned Longchen Nyingthig cycle, one of the most important Dzogchen traditions within the Nyingma school. Revealed by Jigme Lingpa (1730–1798) following visionary experiences of the great master Longchenpa (1308–1364), its empowerment serves as the gateway to the entire Longchen Nyingthig cycle.

As an inner Guru Yoga practice, Rigdzin Düpa unites the blessings of Guru Padmasambhava and the Eight Vidyādharas, who attained realization through the practices of the Eight Nyingma Herukas (Kagyé). It is a profound method for transforming deeply ingrained habitual patterns, revealing the nature of mind, and progressing on the path to enlightenment.

Dedicated to world peace, the benefit of all beings, and the realization of our own Buddha nature, this retreat offers a profound introduction to both Vajrayana practice and the view of Dzogchen.

Understanding the Vajrayana Path

Drawing on the Guhyagarbha Tantra, the principal source tantra of the Nyingma Vajrayana tradition, Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche will explain the essential structure of Vajrayana sadhana practice.

Regardless of which Vajrayana practice you engage in, these teachings will help you understand what each part of a sadhana is for, why it is practiced, and how it functions on the path to enlightenment.

Rinpoche will explain how the Generation Stage (Kyerim) and the Perfection Stage (Dzogrim) work together to transform ordinary perception into pure awareness. According to the Dzogchen tradition, visualization is generated instantaneously rather than gradually, interrupting ordinary patterns of perception and allowing our pure awareness (rigpato emerge.

A Retreat for Every Vajrayana Practitioner

Whether you are new to Rigdzin Düpa or already engaged in Vajrayana practice, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to deepen your understanding of the entire Vajrayana path — from receiving the empowerment and understanding the structure of a sadhana to discovering the profound view that gives every authentic practice its meaning and transformative power.

Prerequisites for participation

The retreat is aimed at:

  • All sincere practitioners of Vajrayana who have a deep desire to learn about and exercise this practice
  • Students of Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche
  • Participants of the course on the ‘Treasury of Precious Qualities’ by Jigme Lingpa given by Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche in different places.
  • Students of the Longchen Shedra

The first part of the retreat is especial for those who are new to the Rigdzin Düpa practice. It begins with the Rigdzin Düpa Empowerment, followed by the essential instructions on Vajrayana practice, including:

  • Why deity visualization is practiced in Vajrayana
  • The essential principles of Kyerim (Generation Stage)
  • How visualization, mantra, and pure perception work together to transform ordinary experience

This part provides the indispensable foundation for the practice. Receiving the empowerment is a prerequisite for attending the second part of the retreat.

Longchen Shedra Graduation Ceremony

Connecting the two parts of the retreat, we will celebrate the graduation of Longchen Shedra Group B on Sunday, 8 November. Longchen Shedra reflects Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche’s vision of making Buddhist philosophy and practice clear, structured, and accessible for modern practitioners. We warmly invite all retreat participants to join this joyful celebration of four years of dedicated study, practice, and the living Dharma.

Open to practitioners who have received the Rigdzin Düpa Empowerment, the second part of the retreat takes you beyond the foundations established during the first days. Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche will offer profound instructions on the practice together with deeper Dzogchen teachings, explaining why Kyerim (Generation Stage) and Dzogrim (Perfection Stage) are inseparable on the Vajrayana path and how their union leads to the direct recognition of the nature of mind.

A rare opportunity to receive authentic lineage teachings that deepen both understanding and realisation.

The seminar costs for the whole retreat are:
210 € regular / 150 € supported*

Only part 1 (Friday to Sunday):
