Lessons from Buddhism for our daily life, open for everyone interested (Buddhist or non-Buddhist alike)

Requested and encouraged by Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche, Peter Heuts (dharma name: Thubten Legshey) will offer a series of one-hour lessons on ZOOM.

January 2024 Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche asked Peter to teach on “patience and the four thoughts”. Therefore, he started last June and July with an introduction on questions like: “what are these four thoughts?”, “why are they considered to be so important”, “how can the thoughts be put into meaningful practice?”, and so on.

Further, Rinpoche recommended to use his so-called “ABC-book” book, which was written in German language and is titled:
“Der buddhistische Lebensberater für jeden Tag”. Fall 2024 we will start lessons following the chapters of this book, which is structured in alphabetic order, in German language. (All lessons will be offered in English.)

So, plans are now:
All sessions will take one hour, consisting of brief introductory talks, guided meditations, a written summary and opportunity for questions and answers.

Prerequisites for participation:

You can follow every lesson either separately, or the whole series, complete or in parts. Every session is structured in a such way, that you don’t need any previous knowledge on Buddhist topics.

Contribution:

Attendance is free of charge. Donations are highly appreciated to compensate for the organizational effort of the Dolpo Tulku e.V.
Please transfer the course fee to the account of the Dolpo Tulku e.V. or send it to us via Paypal.

1

My friends, your human form endowed with precious freedoms and advantages
Of all the six migrations is the one most difficult to find.
Like blind men who have chanced upon a treasure of great price,
With joy achieve your benefit and happiness.

Longchenpa
“Finding Rest in the Nature of the Mind”
Chapter 1, verse 1.

2

Remaining neither day nor night,
this life is always slipping by
and never lengthening.
Why will death not come to one like me?

Shantideva
“Bodhicaryavatara”
Chapter 2, verse 39.

3

Having found a precious human life,
we now have a choice:
Will we create the causes for suffering or
will we create the causes for happiness?

H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama
“The Foundation of Buddhist Practice”

4

We should understand the truth of suffering:
In all the six realms of samsara, high or low,
No place is there but is entrapped in misery
Of pain, of change, of all-pervading suffering in the making.

Jigme Lingpa
“Treasury of Precious Qualities”
Book one; chapter 4, verse 2.
