Longchen Shedra Guest Lecture by Dasho Karma Ura
and short comment by Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche

Yeshe Tsogyal, also known as “Victorious Ocean of Knowledge”, was the closest disciple of Padmasambhava, the master who introduced the Buddhist teachings to Tibet in the eighth century.
She followed the complete Buddhist path, including the Dzogchen teachings, attained enlightenment in her lifetime and is considered the Mother of Tibetan Buddhism, a Guru of great power and wisdom.

At the end of Dasho Karma Ura’s lecture, Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche will shortly present his comment on the Yeshe Tsogyal’s Prayer.

Dasho Karma Ura is the president of the Centre for Bhutan Studies (CBS) and Gross National Happiness Research. He completed his MA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Magdalen College, University of Oxford; an M.Phil. in Economics at the University of Edinburgh; and a Ph.D. at Nagoya University, Japan. An eminent scholar, he has held many international roles, in the Global Council of World Happiness, Earth Justice Working Group, and International Buddhist Federation.

In 2006, he was conferred the title ‘Dasho’ by His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan, the King of Bhutan. Karma has written several books, such as “Bhutan: The Unremembered Nation” and “Leadership of the Wise: Kings of Bhutan” and his essays and articles appear in international journals and magazines.

Dasho Karma Ura is also a painter, with works displayed in a national monument (Dochula temple) and a piece in the British Museum. Among other things, he designs murals and thangkas for Buddhist temples.

And last but not least he is the Director of the forthcoming international and non sectarian Buddhist Global Peace Prayer and Kalachakra Empowerment Ceremony to be held from November 4-10, 2025 in Thimphu Bhutan
