A new series of lessons: Wed 3.06. | Thu 4.06. | Tue 16.06. | Wed 24.06.

In the coming months these teachings will cover some of “Buddha’s Footsteps”. You are warmly invited to join!

Our lessons are a combination of sharing information and practice and meant for everyone interested – beginner or advanced, Buddhist or non-Buddhist -. Whoever wants to know more about Buddha’s life and its meaning for our present day-to-day life, can get something out of this. There are no entrance criteria. An open mind can be helpful, as well as some light-hearted-skepticism and critical inquiry.

You can follow of course the series of all lessons as well as separately single lessons, because the sessions will be structured each time as a “stand-alone”.

All sessions will take about one hour and consist of brief introductory talks, short, guided meditations, a written summary of the material presented, and opportunities for questions and answers.

We draw for these series of lessons mainly on the rich teachings from Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche (see the website archive), as well as from the wonderful book by Thich Nhat Hahn: “Old Path White Clouds; Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha”.

The lessons are presented “bi-lingually”, in English and parallel in German.

This was started last year as kind of experiment after a kind request of one of the participants: “Peter, could you maybe offer the teachings in German?” My native language is Dutch and Maastricht dialect. I learned dharma mostly from English-speaking teachers, books, courses and retreats. I am “not-so-fluent” in German, but I can read and understand it, but during the lessons it worked out surprisingly well.

Presenting in both English and German even helps and opens interesting opportunities. For example, the need of “slowing down”, and taking more time for repeating and deepening fosters letting “sink in” the teachings. It is also helpful in approaching the Buddhist tenets from different perspectives: English is so rich in vocabulary, German has such a rich grammar, and so on. And: my dialect helps me to feel like a child, pure and simple, haha. So, we continue to present in German and English, mutually and parallel during every session.

Why do I “dare” to teach dharma? Simple answer is because begin 2024 Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche requested me to do so. I am very careful and candid about what I know and what I don’t know. My main aim is to share with whoever wants to know about the teachings and regard myself as a “co-student”.
