Longchen Shedra Guest Lecture by Phuntsho Gyaltshen

We are delighted to announce a special guest lecture by Phuntsho Gyaltshen on the “Eight Spiritual Sanctuaries of Longchen Rabjam in Bhutan.”

This talk is offered within Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche’s four-year Longchen Shedra study program in Buddhist philosophy, which is deeply grounded in the works of Longchen Rabjam (Longchenpa). Drawing on his Bhutanese heritage and extensive training in the Nyingma tradition, Phuntsho Gyaltshen will introduce the sacred sites associated with Longchenpa and illuminate their historical and spiritual significance.

Born in Eastern Bhutan, Phuntsho Gyaltshen completed intensive monastic training from 1991 to 2004 under renowned masters, including H.H. Drubwang Penor Rinpoche, earning a Master’s degree from Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in India.

He currently serves as personal tutor to His Royal Eminence Vairochana Rinpoche Ngawang Jigme Jigten Wangchuck, nephew of the King of Bhutan.

Born in Eastern Bhutan, Phuntsho Gyaltshen completed intensive monastic training from 1991 to 2004 under renowned masters, including H.H. Drubwang Penor Rinpoche, earning a Master’s degree from Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in India.
Phuntsho Gyaltshen was born in Eastern Bhutan and began his formal education through the national schooling system until 1990. From 1991 to 2004, he undertook intensive monastic training and Buddhist studies under the guidance of esteemed masters, culminating in a master’s degree from Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, India.
He served as a lecturer at the institute from 2004 to 2006 and later joined Mahapanya Vidayalai in Thailand—an affiliate of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalai University—where he taught from 2007 to 2019. He currently serves as personal tutor to His Royal Eminence Vairochana Rinpoche Ngawang Jigme Jigten Wangchuck, nephew of the King of Bhutan.
Phuntsho Gyaltshen is married to a Thai national and is the father of one daughter.
He currently serves as personal tutor to His Royal Eminence Vairochana Rinpoche Ngawang Jigme Jigten Wangchuck, nephew of the King of Bhutan.
