Longchen Shedra Guest Lecture Series by Dhammadipa – “Exploring the Yogācāra Philosophy through the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra”

We are honored to announce a series of three guest lectures by the renowned Dharma teacher and translator Dhammadipa, who will guide us into the depths of Yogācāra philosophy based on the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, one of the most important sources for the Yogācāra tradition.

Across these three sessions, Ven. Dhammadipa will offer a clear and experiential introduction to the key themes of the text, such as the nature of consciousness, perception, and the path to realization according to the “Mind-Only” school of Mahāyāna Buddhism. His teachings will illuminate how the insights of Yogācāra can enrich both study and practice.

This event is part of the Longchen Shedra Guest Lecture series and is open to all who wish to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice..

Dhammadipa has spent most of his life as a Buddhist monk, studying and practicing various Buddhist schools in depth. In the summer of 2023, however, he decided to retire from monastic life in order to better continue his activities as a lay person in the lay community he has served until now.

Dhammadipa holds several degrees in Buddhist teachings and philosophy, Chinese and Russian literature, and Sanskrit in Europe and Asia. He has maintained an intensive meditation practice since 1986 and, until recently, was ordained in the Theravāda (since 1987) and Mahayana (since 1989) traditions.

As a qualified Dharma and meditation teacher, Dhammadipa leads retreats and gives Dharma teachings in Europe, America, and Asia. His extraordinary understanding of the Theravāda and Mahayana traditions, his high mental clarity, and his enormous experiential knowledge of Dharma and meditation make him an extremely rare and precious jewel of our time. His heart lies above all in the transformation of theoretical Dharma knowledge into direct experience through practical application—always focused on the well-being of all beings.
