Join Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche for a unique evening as he presents his autobiographical book, A Determined Boy, and shares the remarkable story of his life.
Growing up in the isolated high valleys of Dolpo, in north-western Nepal on the border of Tibet, Rinpoche experienced a childhood unlike any other. The region is one of the highest permanently inhabited places on Earth. Even today, there are no roads or hospitals, and many villages can only be reached on foot by crossing mountain passes over 5,000 metres high.
In his own words, Rinpoche recounts his journey from a young boy tending yaks and dreaming of becoming a monk, to being recognised as the reincarnation of a respected spiritual leader and receiving his education at the renowned Namdroling Monastery in South India. His stories are filled with courage, determination, humour, and the profound experiences that shaped his life.
Today, Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche continues to serve the people of Dolpo—not only as their spiritual guide, but also by helping to improve their daily lives. For more than fifteen years, he has travelled the world to raise awareness of the unique challenges facing this remote Himalayan region and to support sustainable development through the Dolpo Tulku Charitable Foundation.
The Foundation funds projects in healthcare, education, environmental protection, and the preservation of Dolpo’s unique cultural heritage, helping to create better opportunities for future generations while protecting one of the world’s last remaining traditional Himalayan cultures.
€5 from every book sold during the evening will be donated directly to these charitable projects.
The evening will be accompanied by the beautiful sounds of the Himalayas as Khenpo Migmar performs traditional melodies on the bamboo flute.
