Himalayan School Project | DIRECTLY to DONATION
Dolpo Tulku Rinpoche developed the vision of building a Himalayan school based on the need in his native region Dolpo. The students can attend up to class 6 or 8 there and then need to come to Kathmandu for further eduction. In many cases they cannot attend schools with subjects dealing with their culture and mother tongue tibetan. This often leads to an alienation in their young adulthood. Therefore Dolpo Tulku has bought a large piece of land near Kathmandu to build a school which combines the Nepali curriculum and Himalayan subjects. Up to 300 children are to be educated there eventually and graduate with a School Leaving Certificate (SLC) after the 10th grade.
The first steps in 2016 and early 2017 were to level a road up to the school and to the secure the land and prepare it for building. The first phase includes two buildings (indicated in yellow) which will function as hostels, classrooms, teachers’ living quarters, kitchen etc. After completion the first 80 to 100 children can be admitted. The costs for this phase is 850.000 Euro / 970.000 USD
